The meeting between the President and Prime Minister of Turkey and the Prime Minister of North Cyprus was arranged in early 2017. The number of issues was discussed. First of all they were talking about the union of the island. Also there was a discussion about the economic development plan for the next 2 years. At the meeting it was decided that Turkey will give a financial assistance to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the amount of $ 340 million annually.

Among the issues discussed there were also negotiations about investments from Turkey in the economy of North Cyprus. In return for invested funds the Turkish government insists on economic and other reforms of the TRNC.

One of the most important issues discussed at the meeting of authorized people was the decision to provide electric power to the TRNC. From Turkey to Cyprus it is planned to lay an underwater electric cable along the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It will settle a lot of problems with the electricity supply of the enterprises of North Cyprus.
