Agriculture

The economic condition of North Cyprus is stable. In addition to all kinds of goods, agricultural products are offered here.
In the west of the island in the Gyuzelurt region many citrus plantations are cultivated (oranges, lemons, grapefruits) which are exported in huge batches.
The oranges are the most popular fruit of Cyprus. More than 120,000 tons are collected here every year. The main kinds of oranges are Jaffa and Valencia. Jaffa has a sweet, juicy taste. The season of this sort is from November to January. Then, from January to May, there is the season of Valencia oranges, which are mainly used for canning, because these fruits are very juicy.
Cyprus grapefruits are used exclusively for making juices.
The annual harvest of lemons in North Cyprus is approximately 6,000 tons. These fruits are consumed mainly on the island and are not exported for sale.
Also from the peel of oranges, lemons and grapefruits an excellent essential oil is produced.
The next points in the list of exported food products are potatoes and meat.
The production of strong drinks from the supplied wine materials is established in Famagusta.
